February has arrived.
Winter is in full swing. This is said to be the coldest time of the year, but it is also the month with many hot events.
Setsubun, Valentine's Day, and Cat Day too ♡
This month we will be talking about each event in February and introducing some wonderful products related to them.
What is Setsubun? Beans and Ehomaki

When you think of Setsubun, you think of bean throwing.
On winter nights, when I hear the fire alarm and cheerful voices from outside shouting "Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!" from every house, I am reminded of my childhood when my family would hurriedly start throwing beans in our house too.
Perhaps because of noise issues in recent years, I feel lonely because I don't hear as many loud voices as I used to.
Do you know what the purpose of bean throwing has been in the first place?
In the past, it was believed that the new year began on the first day of spring, and Setsubun, the day before, was New Year's Eve.
The custom of throwing beans on Setsubun arose from the desire to ward off evil spirits before the New Year.
There is also significance in the custom of decorating gates and entrances with "hiiragi iwashi," which are sardines tied to holly branches.
It is said that the thorns on holly leaves prevent demons from entering, and that the smell of sardines disgusts demons, keeping them away.
Furthermore, there is a custom of eating "Ehomaki" on Setsubun.
It is said that it is best to eat it all in one go on the night of Setsubun while facing the lucky direction of the year, and that if you eat it all in one go while silently making a wish, your wish will come true.
There are seven types of ingredients for the ehomaki.
This is said to be related to the Seven Lucky Gods.
By the way, the lucky direction for 2022 is [slightly north-northwest].
This year, we recommend enjoying a full course of Setsubun, including bean throwing, hiiragi sardines, and ehomaki, to welcome in a happy spring.
Of course, don't forget to shout, "Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!" (Demons out! Good fortune in!).

February 14th is Valentine's Day

Speaking of February, this event comes to mind! February 14th is Valentine's Day.
In Japan, this event is well known as the day to give chocolate to someone you love and express your feelings, but in Europe and other places, it is a day when people of all genders give gifts such as flowers and cards to their lovers and close friends.
In recent years, it has become common in Japan to give chocolates along with accessories and other miscellaneous items.
Isn't this one of the few events where you can honestly express your gratitude not only to the opposite sex you are interested in, but also to family, friends, superiors and colleagues who have always been kind to you, through "friend chocolate" and "obligatory chocolate"?
Try expressing your gratitude, something you might normally be too embarrassed to say!
Both you and the recipient will surely feel warm and fuzzy!
And it's sure to be a special Valentine's Day!
This is the item we would like to recommend as a thoughtful gift.

At this time of year, many people go to shrines to pray for success in their exams.
Even if you do your best in high school entrance exams, university entrance exams, and company interviews, in the end you still want to turn to God!
I'm sure there are many people who purchase "omamori" charms with this in mind.
I bought the amulet with a wish in mind, but what do you do with it after you buy it?
Are you satisfied with your purchase and it ends up still wrapped in the paper bag from the shrine?
I will teach you how to use the amulet correctly.
Be sure to keep your amulet with you at all times by putting it in your bag or wallet!
Alternatively, it is said that it is best to store it in a visible place, as high up as possible, rather than putting it away in a dresser or drawer at home.
Let's take advantage of this benefit.
There are also some cute charms like this.
A must-see for cat lovers!
February flower: Camellia
As February began, the cold became even more severe.
Even in the harsh cold, you can see flowers that continue to bloom bravely.
It's a camellia.
Through the snow that has fallen on the leaves
The flowers bloom with a dignified appearance and look very beautiful and delicate.
The deep green leaves and crimson petals are striking and dazzling in the snow.
The contrast between the leaves and flowers is also very beautiful.
I'm not going to hide it, I'm a huge fan of camellias, and what I'd like to introduce to you are some items with a camellia motif.
The large representation of a single flower has an overwhelming presence that captivates and draws you in.
Arrangements decorated with many camellia flowers not only add to the cuteness of the plump, round flowers, but also add a touch of vibrant color.
Camellias also have Japanese elements, so they bring out a calm, mature charm.
We would like to introduce some items related to the charming camellia.
