[The Ichi (Zaichi)] Editor's recommendation! Plum Day special
The Ichi editorial team's recommendations are a special feature page featuring seasonal products recommended by our site staff, regardless of brand. Every year, June 6th is Plum Day. Plum blossoms bloom in early spring, so why June? Apparently, it's named after a Muromachi period event, when the emperor offered plum blossoms at the Aoi Festival at Kamo Shrine in Kyoto, a ritual to pray for a bountiful harvest. Suddenly, thunder roared, and a torrential downpour ended the drought, leading to the rain being called "rainy season." The Ichi offers many merchandise featuring plum blossoms, a flower that has long been beloved as a symbol of Japan.
