Description
This is a hairpin carved from cow bone horn into the shape of a snake, which is said to be a messenger of God that brings good luck.
Snakes, one of the zodiac animals, are often enshrined at shrines and are said to be messengers of the gods, acting on their orders to improve people's fortunes in terms of money and love. While snakes are said to be vindictive, they also have a gentle side, always repaying those who have helped them. This auspicious snake is simply carved into oxbone horn. Because oxbone horn is a natural material, each pattern is unique, with a tortoiseshell-like sheen and shine, giving it a luxurious feel. Its thickness and durability make it easy to wear even with long hair, and it can be worn alone. It easily pairs with other kanzashi (hairpins) and creates a charming effect in both Japanese and Western styles. Its low static electricity makes it perfect for everyday wear, as well as for Japanese hairstyles.
Designer's thoughts
This is an original Wargo hairpin with a traditional lucky charm motif. It retains the luxurious texture of the ox bone horn while being easy to use. As it is made from a single piece of ox bone horn without being glued together, the design of the hairpin itself is such that the shaft and motif are one. With its luxurious texture, it is a hairpin that can be worn casually in everyday life as well as for Japanese hairstyles at coming-of-age ceremonies and weddings.
