Description
This earring features cherry blossoms, a popular motif since the founding of Kasu Studio, and the Yamataka Jindai Sakura, the oldest giant cherry tree in Japan at 2,000 years old. It depicts a cherry blossom blooming as if it is being reborn from between the trunks.
The rugged, uneven surface of the trunk is given a smoked finish, expressing the dignity of an old tree. The back is engraved with tree rings that give a sense of the tree's age. Legend has it that the Jindai Sakura tree was planted by Yamato Takeru no Mikoto, and when it was on the verge of withering, it was revived after Nichiren prayed for its recovery, so this piece depicts the tree blooming powerfully as if it were being reborn from between the trunks. This is a striking accessory that can be worn by both men and women in any season.
