Description
Hokusai's popular "Kiwame" series of 16 umbrellas.
The bold design transforms the umbrella into a karakasa kozou (Japanese umbrella boy) when opened. Various yokai (specters) are scattered around the umbrella, evoking the image of a hundred demons.
The biggest difference between this and a regular 16-strand long umbrella is the shape of the umbrella band, which has a distinctive thickness that is unlike anything we've seen before, and is designed with the large tongue of a Karakasa Kozou (Japanese umbrella boy).
The sculpture at his hand is of a Karakasa Kozo...
This is a fun piece with a focus on the engraving on the handle and the band.
[Extreme Series]
A series of 16 long umbrellas made with attention to detail.
The carved handles and the buttons on the band are a unique touch.
This is a series that exudes luxury with each umbrella.
*Specifications and "Kiwame" points vary depending on the product in the series. Please enjoy the special features of each product.
The "Kiwame" series features 16 rib long umbrellas with bold graphic designs that utilize the entire umbrella fabric. The handles are hand-joined by artisans to fit the 16 ribs, resulting in beautiful seams. The shaft is made of natural Japanese pagoda tree (Sophora japonica) for a comfortable grip. Not only is it comfortable to hold, but it also opens smoothly, even when lifted like a manual umbrella. The frame is made of lightweight, flexible fiberglass, making it durable and resistant to wind and rain. The black ribs make rust less noticeable, making this a long umbrella that combines design with ease of use.
It also has UV protection, so you can use it as a parasol in both sunny and rainy weather.
