Description
Introducing original tsumami kanzashi, exclusive to Kanzashiya Wargo, made using the traditional Japanese technique of "tsumami zaiku."
Kanzashi (ornaments) decorated with tsumami-zaiku (hand-crafted ornaments) have long been used as hair accessories, adding a touch of elegance to updos worn with kimono, including the flower kanzashi (maiko kanzashi) that adorn the Japanese hairstyles of maiko (apprentice geisha). This set of 20 combs, perfect for attaching to the sides or back of your hair, and 10 combs recommended for side closure, feature plum blossoms of various sizes in pastel pink and blue. The single plum blossoms are made of organza, creating a light, sheer effect depending on the light filtering through. The 20 combs are adorned with white and yellow gold decorative cords and matching tassels on both sides for an elegant finish. The 10 combs are adorned with pearls of various sizes, teardrop-shaped transparent beads, and yellow gold tassels, adding volume to the voluminous look. These unique tsumami kanzashi feature special bells used in the Gungur instrument, which hang from the chain, creating a delicate, rustling sound with every step. You can use them as a set, or you can use them in combination with other large kanzashi for a more elegant look. This traditional tsumami kanzashi is unique to Wargo, and it follows tradition while also incorporating modern innovation.
Designer's thoughts
Wargo's original tsumami kanzashi (hairpins) are crafted using the traditional Japanese technique known as tsumami zaiku. This set includes 20 combs, each large yet understated and feminine, featuring a row of three-colored plum blossoms, with leaves and platinum cords extending from them, resembling the silhouette of a princess's tiara. Another set includes 10 combs, each smaller yet bolder, featuring three-colored plum blossoms, sparkling pearls reminiscent of morning dew, and luxurious tassels. The bells at the bottom are special bells used in a musical instrument called a gungur, creating a unique finish. They are perfect for use as a set, or simply as individual pieces, or paired with other kanzashi for a more glamorous look. These kanzashi are perfect for formal occasions like coming-of-age ceremonies, weddings, and parties, as well as everyday wear with yukata and kimono.
