Description

Introducing new colors! Introducing original tsumami kanzashi, made using the traditional Japanese technique of "tsumami zaiku," available only at Kanzashiya Wargo.

Kanzashi (ornaments) decorated with tsumami-zaiku (hand-drawn ornaments), including the flower kanzashi (maiko kanzashi) that adorn the traditional Japanese hairstyles of maiko (apprentice geisha), have long been used as hair accessories to add a touch of elegance to updos worn with kimono. This set of large and small flower kanzashi features chrysanthemum flowers crafted with tsumami-zaiku (sword-shaped tsumami-zaiku) and decorative cords, creating a truly festive atmosphere. The 20-comb tsumami kanzashi features generous amounts of red and white decorative cords, creating a silhouette reminiscent of a bow. Easily worn on the sides or back of your hair, simply adding a touch of elegance to your kimono look. The single chrysanthemum tsumami kanzashi (hand-drawn ornament) is a 10-comb type recommended for side stylization. It's a perfect accent piece for any hairstyle. These traditional tsumami kanzashi, unique to Wargo, adhere to tradition while emphasizing modern innovation.

Designer's thoughts
Wargo's original tsumami kanzashi (hairpins) are crafted using the traditional Japanese technique known as tsumami zaiku. This set includes 20 combs and 10 combs, each with a unique and festive design featuring layered chrysanthemums, strings reminiscent of New Year's decorations, and flowing leaves. The bells at the bottom are special bells used in a musical instrument called a gungur, giving the set a truly unique finish. They are perfect as a set, or worn simply on their own or paired with other kanzashi for a more glamorous look. These kanzashi are perfect for formal occasions like coming-of-age ceremonies, weddings, and parties, as well as everyday wear like yukata and kimono.
