Description
This is an antique-style hairpin that combines gears, a typical motif of steampunk, and has a rotating mechanism that makes it look like it's attached.
This hairpin is designed to allow you to enjoy the fascinating shape of the overlapping gears that possess functional beauty. The two gears on the top right are designed to spin. The retro and warm finish is an antique design, each one carefully crafted by hand by artisans. The contrasting finish with the intricate, mechanical gears creates a somewhat fanciful, steampunk-esque atmosphere.
Designer's thoughts
Gears are often seen as single components that make up larger objects, such as the gears of a clock or engine. Their design has a functional beauty due to the stoic nature of them continuing to turn round and round simply to fulfill their role. We have created a hairpin with a nostalgic, steampunk feel, using gears, which usually play a supporting role, as its main motif. The exterior is simple so as not to detract from the functional beauty, and we have incorporated a rotating gimmick to make use of the fascinating feature of gears - that they rotate while interfering with each other. This is a hairpin that we hope you will enjoy while using it, enjoying the mechanical beauty of gears and the excitement that comes from the gimmick.
