Description
This silver hairpin combines beauty and strength, featuring a white snake, a symbol of happiness, and adorned with iris flowers.
The white snake has long been considered auspicious, symbolizing longevity, fertility, wealth, and rights. The snake's head is featured as an ornament, and the snake's body's undulations are captured in this single hairpin. The snake holds an iris flower in its mouth, swaying gently. The flower's meaning is "good news." This design is meant to convey the hope that the auspicious white snake will bring good news. It is a striking piece not only when worn as an accessory, but also as an object of art. Its simple design also allows for layering with other hairpins. This hairpin is versatile enough to be worn with both casual and formal attire, whether Japanese or Western.
Designer's thoughts
The design is based on the motif of a white snake and iris, symbols of happiness. The overall design features beautiful curves, expressing the undulations of the snake's body. The white snake is being held by someone, which embodies the idea of "grasping happiness." One legend has it that the snake rises into the sky and becomes a dragon, and perhaps the dragon is trying to grab the snake and lead it into the sky. This hairpin has such a hidden story behind it.
