Description
This is a refined wooden hairpin inspired by Princess Kaguya, a character in the Japanese fairy tale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter."
The tip of the ornament depicts the shining bamboo from which Princess Kaguya emerged. This marks the beginning of the story of Princess Kaguya's beautiful growth. The colorful, bundled suede-like leather cords are reminiscent of the twelve-layered kimono worn by Princess Kaguya as she grows into an otherworldly beauty. The ends of the bundled cords are decorated with fan-shaped motifs and beads reminiscent of hi-ogi fans. When the large bells are tucked into the hair, they produce a pleasant tinkling sound.
