Description
This single hairpin (kanzashi) is a three-dimensional representation of the lily of the valley, with its string of bell-like flowers. The delicate flowers are accented with pearl beads and the entire piece is finished in elegant silver.
The tip of the handle features adorable lily of the valley flowers, deformed and incorporated into the hairpin ornament. Two silver leaves, the same color as the handle, add an accent. The drooping lily of the valley flowers create an elegant and graceful look. The tip of the ornament is also adorned with swaying pearl beads, resembling lily of the valley flowers. The different shines of the silver handle and the soft pearl beads catch the light and sparkle brilliantly.
The handle is made of durable brass, making it easy to use even for those with long hair, and it can be used to tie up hair with just one strand. The silver handle is rhodium-plated, giving it an elegant impression. This hairpin can be easily matched with any outfit, regardless of the season, including yukata.
Designer's thoughts
The dainty lily of the valley has been fashioned into a hairpin, embodying the flower's meanings of "purity" and "chastity." Known as the "flower that brings happiness," the lily of the valley is also known as the "Kimikage-gusa" ("Your Shadow Grass"), a reference to the Yamato Nadeshiko flower, due to the way its flowers bloom, seemingly nestled in the shadows. To capture this understated, unpretentious elegance, the design has been kept to a minimum, resulting in a simple design. The leaves are carefully crafted to capture the softness inherent to plants, while the flowers are adorned with tiny pearls in a bell-like arrangement. The design is suitable for all ages and occasions, making it the perfect gift.
