Designer's thoughts
This combed hairpin (kanzashi) features a large ribbon motif evoking the romanticism of the Taisho era. A modern checkered ribbon is layered with vivid ribbon and twisted cord for a three-dimensional effect. A plum blossom crafted using traditional tsumami zaiku (plum blossom craft) is adorned in the center of the ribbon, adding a touch of Japanese charm. The elegant and charming design perfectly matches the name Komachi, a reference to a beautiful young woman renowned in the town. The bow, tied with twisted cord, features a special bell used in a musical instrument called a gungur, adding a unique touch. Perfect for wearing alone or paired with other hairpins for a more elegant look. This hairpin is perfect for formal occasions like graduations and coming-of-age ceremonies, as well as everyday wear with yukata and kimono.
