Description
This is a traditional hairpin called "Tamakanzashi" made from cow bone horn and engraved with a Hanabishi pattern.
Speaking of traditional hairpins, the Tamakanzashi is the most popular. Its cute, rounded shape has made it a beloved item even today. This Tamakanzashi has been carved with the traditional Hanabishi pattern, creating a charming finish. The cow bone horn material is a natural material, so each pattern is unique, with a tortoiseshell-like sheen and shine, giving it a luxurious feel. It's also thick and durable, making it easy to use even for those with long hair, and can be worn alone. It's easy to coordinate with other hairpins, and can be worn with both Japanese and Western styles for a charming look. It's also static-resistant, making it perfect for everyday use as well as Japanese hairstyles.
Designer's thoughts
This is a wargo original flat-cut hairpin with a hanabishi carved into a ball-shaped hairpin, also known as a courtesan hairpin. Courtesan hairpins, which were believed to be a sign of status based on how many luxurious accessories they wore, were usually made from genuine tortoiseshell, and were so luxurious that it was said that the accessories from the face up were enough to build a house. By crafting this hairpin using ox bone horn, we have been able to revive it in modern times as a hairpin that can be worn casually while still retaining its atmosphere and luxury. This is a hairpin that can be worn casually not only for Japanese hairstyles at coming-of-age ceremonies and weddings, but also for everyday use.
