Description
Introducing the original single tsumami hairpin, made using the traditional Japanese technique of "tsumami zaiku," available only at Kanzashiya Wargo.
Hairpins decorated with tsumami-zaiku (Japanese quilting ornaments), including the flower hairpins (maiko kanzashi) that adorn the traditional Japanese hairstyles of maiko, have long been used as hair accessories to add a touch of elegance to updos worn with kimonos. This single-piece hairpin, crafted using the traditional tsumami-zaiku technique, is easy to wear in everyday life. Its adorable design features three-colored cherry blossoms in full bloom with the falling cherry blossoms hanging below. The pale pink color creates a soft atmosphere, almost reminiscent of a cherry blossom branch itself. The downward dangle is adorned with two cherry blossoms, a yellow gold tassel, and a single pearl, adding a touch of volume. A fine, rustling bell called a gunguru is placed at the base of the shaft, creating a refreshing sound with every step.
You can use it by itself, or pair it with other large kanzashi for a more elegant look. This traditional tsumami kanzashi is unique to Wargo, and it adheres to tradition while incorporating modern innovations.
The stem is made of durable and easy-to-handle brass, so even those with thick hair can easily style it all with just one. It can be used on its own, or paired with other large kanzashi for a more glamorous look. This traditional tsumami kanzashi is unique to Wargo, adhering to tradition while incorporating modern innovations.
Designer's thoughts
Wargo's original tsumami kanzashi (single kanzashi) is crafted using the traditional Japanese technique known as tsumami zaiku. The three blooming cherry blossoms, the two dangling blossoms, and the shining gold tassel create a truly evocative design. The design evokes the image of fully bloomed cherry blossoms dancing in the wind, evoking a feminine charm. The bell at the base of the shaft is a special bell used in a musical instrument called a gungur, resulting in a highly distinctive finish. Recommended for those who want to incorporate tsumami zaiku into their daily lives or try a traditional-style kanzashi. This kanzashi is easy to coordinate with everyday wear like yukata and kimono, as well as formal occasions like coming-of-age ceremonies, weddings, and parties.
