A typical way to wear a hairpin (Yakaimaki)
1. Simply gather your hair in the position you like, just like before making a ponytail.
2. Twist the gathered hair section clockwise 2-3 times, then twist the section vertically and hold the section near the roots in place with your right hand.
3. Fold the ends of the hair you are holding in your left hand up and down and tuck them into the fixed bundle of hair. (It's done when you can hold it in one hand.)
4. Hold the hair bundle in place with your left hand, hold the hairpin with your right hand, and insert the hairpin in a straight line from the right, scooping up the hair bundle. Turn the hairpin to the left and insert it at a slight angle.
5. Add the hairpin and the whole piece together and you're done.
