What is hydrangea?
The word 'jisai' means a flower that blooms facing the purple sun. This is a phonetic spelling of 'ajisai'.
There are several theories about the origin of the word, one of which is that it comes from the color of the flower, which is a collection of indigo blues (adusai or azusaai), and is derived from the beautiful indigo-dyed color of the flowers.
When deciding what Chinese character to use for hydrangea, a Tang Dynasty poet brought out the character for hydrangea from a poem. Since then, hydrangea has been written as hydrangea. However, the hydrangea in this poem is different from the native Japanese hydrangea, and it seems to have referred to lilac.
Surprisingly, the flower's meaning is negative
Hydrangeas have positive flower meanings such as "energetic woman" and "patient love."
Hydrangeas are beautiful, quiet, and reminiscent of a gentle smile, but many of their flower meanings actually evoke negative images.
The most well-known negative meanings of hydrangeas are "fickleness" and "infidelity." The origin of these meanings comes from the fact that hydrangeas change color as they grow. The color of hydrangea petals changes as they grow, from green to white, and from blue-purple to red-purple.
Hydrangeas, whose petals gradually change color, are also known as "seven changes."
The flower's meanings are "arrogant" and "cold-hearted," which are said to be inspired by the blue color of the petals.
They say that beautiful people have thorns, so perhaps even the most beautiful flower has a dark side lurking beneath it.
However, hydrangeas bloom beautifully and brighten our moods during the gloomy and oppressive rainy season, even during the daytime. They are popular and cherished by many people.
Recently, because of its flower meaning of "family togetherness," more and more people are using hydrangeas in bouquets, which were previously taboo at weddings.
Why not try looking for a famous hydrangea spot near you?
