[The Ichi (Zaichi)] Editor's recommendation! Glass bead special feature
The Ichi editorial team's recommendation is a special feature page where our site staff selects the most popular seasonal products for the season, regardless of brand. Dragonfly beads are glass beads with small holes drilled through them, featuring patterns and motifs made from glass of various colors. During the Edo period, glass beads with white flowers on a blue background were called dragonfly beads because they resembled the compound eyes of a dragonfly, and they apparently had various names depending on the pattern. Glass crafts have long been used in accessories such as netsuke and kanzashi, but since glass is said to have the power to ward off evil, they may have continued to be widely loved as a kind of talisman.
We sell handmade hairpins (kanzashi), each one carefully crafted to perfection.
We sell original hairpins and collaborative works by artists that can be worn casually with everyday wear or yukata, as well as traditional tortoiseshell hairpins, flower hairpins, and tsumami hairpins that go well with kimonos such as tomesode (long-sleeved kimono), furisode (long-sleeved kimono), and Shichi-Go-San (celebration of Shichi-Go-San). We also carry hair accessories and goods such as hair ties.
